Hey there! I'm Ed.

Originally from the UK and now based in Vancouver, my love of rugby began on muddy pitches in the rainy North West of England and has only grown stronger ever since.

I represented school teams before moving into club rugby in Hull, where I played for various age groups and sides. It was also there that I first discovered a passion for coaching. After school, I moved to Prague to study and spent seven years playing in the Czech domestic leagues. During that time, I gained my first real insight into the inner workings of grassroots rugby clubs, the challenges they face, the people who keep them running, and the importance of strong club culture.

Following my time in Prague, I relocated to Oslo for work. What began as a move for my professional career soon became one of the most formative periods of my rugby journey. After tearing my ACL and MCL in my second game in Norway, I swapped my boots for a whistle and transitioned into coaching.

Before long, I found myself serving as coach, vice president, and eventually president of a local rugby club. It was a true baptism of fire. From navigating Norwegian bureaucracy and managing social media to organising events, working with sponsors, and collaborating with national team coaches, I experienced first hand the realities of running a grassroots sports organisation. It was challenging, rewarding, and one of the best learning experiences of my life.

More recently, I moved to North Vancouver and immediately became involved with a local club, helping coach their premier men's attack. This experience has exposed me to another side of club operations, including player recruitment and retention, working with high performance athletes, agents and supporting programmes that compete at the highest domestic levels.

Grassroots rugby is built by passionate volunteers, dedicated coaches, and committed club leaders. I've sat in many of those seats myself, and I understand both the opportunities and the challenges clubs face.

My goal is simple..to help rugby clubs become stronger, more sustainable, and better equipped for the future.
